Scientific evidence shows that our climate is changing. Global average temperature has risen by around 1.0 °C since the Industrial Revolution (1850-1900) when greenhouse gases from fossil fuels, such as coal, oil and gas, began increasing in the atmosphere. Atmospheric concentrations of carbon-dioxide are now at the highest levels for 800,000 years. Once in the atmosphere, greenhouse gases form a 'blanket' around the planet. This blanket traps the heat from the sun causing the earth to heat up.
